During the COVID-19 lockdowns, domestic violence and violence against FLINTA individuals have surged, creating significant challenges. Perpetrators of domestic violence are often not strangers but rather people closest to us, making it challenging to identify the abuse due to emotional, familial, or financial ties. The public space has also become more perilous for FLINTA individuals. The crisis has led to an increase in violence and sexual tension, with limited opportunities to address these pressing issues. Daily experiences include insults, assaults, rape, and femicide, yet society often neglects to adequately address this problem. BOUNDARY SET is an unyielding awareness initiative and a project for survivors of sexual violence, where it’s model is visually taking over the public space through her size and posture. Architecture is subconsciously perceived as a metaphor for society and power. These processes can also be found in language, such as “The foundation of a society” or “The pillars of democracy.” Size is subconsciously associated with authority and power. Thus, the representation of victims is intentionally avoided, allowing the focus of the project to be on the empowerment and autonomy of the survivors.
