THE MYTH is a sharp, fragile glass sculpture made from shattered and newly fused security glass. Through its material aesthetics, the work critically questions the fragile biconditionality between national borders and security. Emotionally, it particularly illuminates aspects of power and violence in relation to the maritime border of the Mediterranean, which, in the European self-image, is akin to a holy grail. A feeling of superiority that exists not out of understanding but affective attraction.
